Grupa Azoty Police supports ZUT
The Process Dynamics and Control Laboratory opened at the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering is an effect of cooperation between the West Pomeranian University of Technology (ZUT) in Szczecin and Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Police S.A. The cost of the laboratory equipment was EUR 70 thousand. The facility was created to address the need to educate students in the field of olefin production processes. It will also be used to improve employee qualifications, mainly of PDH Polska S.A., a special purpose vehicle of Grupa Azoty Police, established to construct a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit.

- We have a significant interest in maintaining close relations with ZUT as we need staff that combine expertise and hands-on experience. The laboratory will help integrate theory with practice and enable Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Police S.A. to acquire qualified employees, ready to start work -  said Dr. Wojciech Wardacki, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty Police, addressing the students who arrived for the opening of the laboratory.

Prof. Jacek Wróbel, Rector of the West Pomeranian University of Technology, stressed that creation of this modern laboratory will increase the students’ commitment and provide them with much better opportunities for skills development.

In the laboratory, students can learn how an industrial plant operates and try out handling of the industrial processes without fear of making mistakes. The facility consists of four lab benches and one large control device integrating their functions. In the laboratory, students deal with miniature versions of testing installations that simulate the production of various chemical compounds, such as propylene. The purpose of practical exercises in the laboratory is to assist students in acquiring habits that will help them avoid mistakes which might have incalculable consequences in their day-to-day work. The Process Dynamics and Control Laboratory in the Institute of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Protection Processes at the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin was established under an agreement between the University, Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Police S.A. and PDH Polska Spółka Akcyjna.
